Things Your Hair Colorist Would Love You to Do Before Getting Your Hair Colored
You might think that a hair color session is not much different than the typical haircut and setting session, but you are absolutely wrong. A haircolor session takes more time and requires a perfect technique for your hair to achieve that shade or highlights. It is not merely washing and getting into the session, but involves a lot of process and is an exhausting task for the hair colorist.
If you have an upcoming haircolor appointment, below are a few things that your haircolorist would definitely appreciate if you get them done before reaching the salon.
Bring an Inspiration
Let’s be honest here that we all have an inspiration for the exact hair color we want that we spotted either on a TV show, an Instagram reel, or a movie. When you go and explain the shade to the haircolorist without actually showing the shade, you might end up getting a different color. It is always better and highly advised that you show an image of the color and let the haircolorist decide whether you can get the actual color or something closer. Don’t simply give them the hint.
Have Patience
Just like we say, good things take time, so does the good hair color. Don’t expect that you are going to the salon and will be done in 20 – 30 minutes because applying haircolor takes time, along with technical skills. If your demand asks for more time, then you will have to sit at the salon for that much time to attain that perfect hair color. Sitting there and constantly asking the haircolorist about the time it will take may result in panic, and your hair color can go wrong. Only choose the haircolor session at the salon when you have enough time to spare, along with patience.
Stick to a Realistic Result
You might have brought a reference photo and want the exact shade, but let the haircolorist decide whether it is possible to achieve. Photos in general are highly edited and refined, and chances are that the color you are showing doesn’t even come. You have to be open to a realistic approach that the final hair color results may vary from the original reference, and your haircolorist will explain it to you before you sit for your session. Don’t go with an unrealistic approach or attitude of wanting the exact color.
Use Their Recommended Products for After Care
To hold the color of your hair after getting it done at the salon, you yourself have to put in effort. You can’t expect the color to stay in your hair with your regular hair wash and care routine. A professional haircolorist will give you a set of products, including shampoo for colored hair, conditioner, mask, and other products to keep your haircolor intact for a longer period. Also, do not panic if you see hair color washing out the next time you are washing your hair, because it is common and expected.
When you already know the drill and most of the information and technicalities about haircolor and session, it becomes like a cakewalk for the haircolorist and you as well. The time spent on the consultation gets reduced, and when the haircolorist is not under pressure to achieve an unrealistic goal, they can do better.
