BEYOND THE LABEL: REDEFINING REINTEGRATION

Royalty Helping Hands Hosts Sold-Out “Cells to Success” in Toronto

TORONTO — On April 11, 2026, Royalty Helping Hands (RHH) hosted a sold-out Cells to Success event at Tiara and Tuxedo Events, convening community members, leaders, and advocates for a direct conversation on incarceration and reintegration.

The forum spotlighted six individuals who have transitioned from incarceration into leadership, entrepreneurship, and community impact—challenging stigma through lived experience, accountability, and proof of what’s possible.

The evening was led by Paralegal Sandra Anin, Cara Burke of Showtime Services, Jaiquane and Daiquane Buchanan alongside Christine Hagley representing the RHH Youth Committee. The program opened with a national anthem performance by O’Shana Music, setting a tone of reflection and intention.

A defining moment that started off with a prayer  from Princess Ford as it was the first-time, in-depth interview with Kamelah Blair Sanderson, Founder and Executive Leader of Royalty Helping Hands. In a raw and direct format led by Mrs Cara Burke, she sat down for deep, unfiltered questions on reintegration, systemic barriers, and the realities behind the work.

“This platform was never meant to be comfortable—it was meant to be honest,” said Kamelah Blair Sanderson. “ These stories show what resilience looks like when people are given real opportunity to rebuild.”

The experience was further elevated by live artistic expression, including a painting by Reezy, alongside curated cuisine from OK Caribbean Catering and Chef Osam Sanderson.

The event also marked the launch of The Weight We Carry, a community-driven survey initiative collecting testimony from individuals impacted by systemic inequities. The data will anchor a broader advocacy campaign pushing toward the recognition of racism as a public health crisis and expanding access to critical support.

Reintegration doesn’t end at release—it evolves,” Blair Sanderson added. “Without support, barriers continue. Our responsibility is to replace isolation with access, and judgment with opportunity.”

Through Cells to Success, Royalty Helping Hands continues to advance a model centered on lived experience, community voice, and long-term systems change.

Look out for podcasts and our community tour this summer and fall.
