Xaruya, whose real name is Onur Akin, is a German-Turkish artist who independently creates and releases music across YouTube, Spotify, and more than 150 other digital platforms. Childhood
Onur Akin was born in Hamburg and spent his early years in Schnelsen before later growing up near Buxtehude. As a child he enjoyed playing with toy cars, spending time on the Wii, and going for walks with his parents. Communication proved challenging in his early years: he spoke only Turkish at first and learned German later, which made interaction with other children and kindergarten teachers difficult. From a young age Xaruya regularly uploaded gameplay videos and livestreamed. As his subscriber count grew, he began releasing more music and eventually changed his YouTube name to “Xaruya.” From that point he concentrated exclusively on music, marking the start of his career as a musician. His first notable success came with the track “Das Blut.”
Music Career
Xaruya has consistently released new songs. While he received positive feedback, comments sections often included mocking remarks. These did not discourage him; instead, he actively engaged with them. His lyrics are typically bilingual—he performs in both German and Turkish, languages in which he is fluent. The content frequently addresses others’ poor behavior, aspects of his own life, and his religion, with the aim of encouraging listeners to reflect.
Although he has not yet achieved major commercial success, Xaruya continues to release music for his audience. In mid-2023 he removed all non-music videos from his YouTube channel, retaining only his music videos as a deliberate step toward being regarded as a serious musician. He has declined numerous collaboration offers from other emerging artists, preferring to build his career as a solo act. A key milestone occurred on June 15, 2023, when he released “Cehennem” on Spotify—his first track on the platform—which resulted in verified artist status.
More recently, Xaruya has paused the production of music videos and stepped back from that side of his work, effectively taking a break from visual content creation.

Xaruya is generally described as calm, kind, and respectful toward those who treat him the same way. He is reserved yet cheerful, known for being helpful, and makes charitable donations. Outside of music, he developed an interest in investing through his father and by studying tutorial videos.
