Arlo and The Training Marketplace Launch First Dedicated Benchmark for the Instructor-Led Training Industry
The 2026 State of Instructor-Led Training survey is now open to training providers, with the full report scheduled for release in November
Arlo, the company behind a training management system built for instructor-led training providers, and The Training Marketplace, a global marketplace connecting corporate training buyers with specialist providers, today announced the launch of the 2026 State of Instructor-Led Training (ILT) survey.
The survey will form the basis of the first global benchmark report dedicated specifically to the instructor-led training provider market. The full report is scheduled for release in November.
Filling a gap in market data
According to the organisers, the ILT market has no dedicated benchmarking data. Training providers set prices, choose delivery formats, invest in technology and plan growth without a clear picture of what the rest of the industry is doing.
The State of Instructor-Led Training report aims to change that. It will combine survey responses from training providers with buyer behaviour data drawn directly from The Training Marketplace platform, along with analysis from an advisory panel of industry experts.
Preview data released by Arlo alongside the survey suggests the ILT sector is changing shape rather than shrinking. According to the preview, 67% of training providers say instructor-led training still makes up the bulk of their delivery and revenue, and 61% say private, client-specific training drives their profitability. Blended delivery is also growing: 43% already offer blended training and another 32% expect to add it. More than half (52%) use training marketplaces as part of their marketing.
What the report will cover
- Market confidence and the commercial outlook for training providers
- Delivery format trends across in-person, virtual and blended training
- Technology and AI adoption across the ILT sector
- Benchmarking data on pricing, course volume and business models
- Buyer behaviour insights from The Training Marketplace
- Expert commentary and analysis from industry leaders
“At the start of every year, providers make big calls on price, format and headcount, and most of them are flying blind. We keep hearing the same question from customers: ‘Is it just us?’ This report will give them an actual answer, and it’s arriving at the moment they’re drawing up next year’s plans,” said Chris Teeling of Arlo.
Advisory panel
An expert advisory panel is guiding the survey, reviewing the findings and contributing directly to the final report. The panel includes Donald H. Taylor, Catherine Brown of Good Humans Growth Network, Scott D’Amico of Communispond, Tammy Banks of Taye Training, Karl Kapp, Melissa Satterfield of Langevin, Peter Evans of The Training Marketplace and Chris Teeling of Arlo Software.
Who can take part
The survey is open to anyone who runs, manages or delivers instructor-led training, whether face-to-face, virtual or blended. Independent training providers, corporate training teams, associations and freelance trainers are all invited to respond. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and can be taken online at the Arlo Instructor-Led Training Survey.
Participants will receive early access to the findings when the report launches, first invitations to webinars with the advisory panel, and offers from the report’s partners. Each participant is also entered into a draw to win a US$500 Amazon gift card.
