The Witcher 3 Sets a New All-Time Steam Record 11 Years After Launch, as RageQuit.gg Data Reveals Which Games Refuse to Fade

Skopje, North Macedonia, [10/12/2026]: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt reached a new all-time Steam peak of 137,043 concurrent players on October 4, 2026, more than 11 years after its original release. That’s according to data from the Steam player count tracker at RageQuit.gg, which monitors every game on Steam around the clock.

The Witcher 3 is not alone. Several older titles set fresh records in the past 30 days:

  • American Truck Simulator (2016) hit 21,318 players.
  • Kingdom Rush (2014) reached 17,292.
  • Pony Island (2016) and Steep (2016) both set new highs.

The games that never fade

Some of Steam’s biggest games still come close to their best-ever numbers every day. On October 12, 2026:

  • Dota 2 peaked at 937,884 players, about 73% of its all-time record.
  • Counter-Strike 2 reached 1,246,635, about 69% of its record.
  • Euro Truck Simulator 2 and VRChat each hit around 76% of their all-time peaks.

The giants that came back down to earth

Other record-breakers have settled far below their launch highs:

  • Palworld, which peaked at over 2.1 million players, drew around 63,000 on the same day (about 3% of its record).
  • Elden Ring and Monster Hunter Wilds sat under 4% of their peaks.
  • Baldur’s Gate 3 sat at about 8%, and Cyberpunk 2077 at about 6%.

“Launch numbers make the headlines, but staying power tells you much more about a game,” said Ivan V, founder of RageQuit.gg. “Seeing a decade-old game like The Witcher 3 break its own record shows how much a community can keep growing long after release.”
