2023 Novelties from Automakers

This year, automakers presented some very bright new products. The Indy Auto Man experts have analyzed the market and prepared an overview of the most fascinating models ready to conquer the market and drop the price tags on used predecessors.

Mercedes-Benz: CLE, GLC, and AMG GT

Most summer novelties happened at Mercedes-Benz. In early July, the Germans declassified the new CLE family to replace the C- and E-class coupes and convertibles. Find out more about the Mercedes-Benz lineup on indyautoman.com.

Only the hardtop version managed to debut, and another convertible will arrive later. At the start of sales, CLE will receive three engines with four and six cylinders, and the top version will develop 381 hp and 500Nm. Charged AMG variants are also in the plans. Moreover, in terms of return, the future hot CLE can surpass the Mercedes-AMG sports cars.

The GLC crossover also became more charged over the summer: the version pumped by AMG engineers received nameplates “43” and “63 S”. In both cases, under the hood is a two-liter turbo engine with an electric superstructure. But if the younger version of the AMG 43 produces 421 hp and 500Nm (plus another 14 hp in the electric boost mode), then the older 63 S E Performance sends 680 hp and 1020 Nm to the wheels, allowing you to reach 60 mph in 3.5 seconds. The secret of convincing performance is hidden in the original system of supercharging and an electric motor, combined with its two-stage gearbox and limited-slip differential.

Finally, the new Mercedes-AMG is the redesigned GT sports car based on the AMG SL. It can accommodate four people in the cabin. The new concept will surprise fans of the old GT coupe, but the power unit of the novelty is recognizable: in the basic version, the four-liter V8 develops 476 hp and 700 Nm, and in the top – 585 and 800, respectively. The Mercedes-AMG GT 63 4Matic+ Coupe, the most advanced modification, is capable of accelerating to 60 mph in 3.2 seconds. The maximum speed is 196 mph. Sales will start at the end of 2023.

Lexus GX

The new Lexus GX SUV can boast an extraordinary appearance that stands apart from the Lexus lineup’s corporate identity.

Together with the new body, the fresh GX moved to the more modern GA-F platform, becoming a technical relative of the Lexus LX, Toyota LC 300, and the last generation Prado. The chassis now has an independent suspension with adaptive dampers for a surcharge. Under the hood, buyers will find either a 3.5-liter V6 with 354 hp available at the start of sales or an already-announced hybrid installation based on a 2.4-liter V4. In the cabin, the new Lexus has a large screen, leather, a dozen cupholders, and a choice between six and seven seats.

And already at the start of sales, the GX will be available in off-road trim levels. That is, with the change of generations, Lexus is already shamelessly rolling up to off-road.

Toyota Land Cruiser Prado

From now on, the LC Prado will be the bearer of a new style for Toyota, and references to past generations are coming. The company made sure that the SUV competently pressed on the strings of the soul of automotive retro fans, but at the same time, they pumped the architecture of the model great.

With the change of generation, the Prado has improved in all areas: the frame (borrowed from the LC 300) and the bodywork have become stiffer, the off-road geometry – better, the chassis – more modern, and the electronics – smarter. Five powerplants (with four cylinders) have been announced, including a 204-horsepower diesel engine with an electric superstructure and a top-end 330-horsepower hybrid. The list of available options includes ventilated seats, powerful JBL acoustics, and a third row of seats. World sales will start in the first half of next year.

Hyundai Santa Fe

Hyundai has only one premiere in the summer. The Santa Fe of the new generation managed to surprise the aesthetes, quarrel with the fans, and stir up the doubting public. Designers offered a non-trivial approach to the model’s appearance. But the new Hyundai is distinguished not just by straight lines, flattened surfaces, and Land Rover references.

In the fifth generation, the crossover got an increased wheelbase, a more spacious rear row (as well as an optional third), an enlarged trunk, and a modern interior in retro style.

Traveler-friendly innovations include roof rack access handles and a selection of expeditionary accessories for the XRT off-road version. The Sante Fe looks like a true off-roader with toothy wheels, a trunk, a ladder, and protective cables at the windshield. However, if desired, the client can choose a pretentious crossover version – with Nappa leather and second-row captain’s chairs.

While the world is awaiting the novelties, the owners of used Mercedes-Benz, Lexus, Toyota, and Hyundai models should consider the depreciation their vehicles will experience after the next generation’s release. Selling a car is often stressful and time-consuming, especially when updates are on the horizon, but in-time preparation and professional assistance are the keys to selling a preowned vehicle with maximum benefit.
