Dr. Velma Trayham Honored as a Woman to KNOW in Arizona for Leadership, Impact, and Economic Empowerment

Phoenix, Arizona – Dr. Velma Trayham, award-winning entrepreneur, economic empowerment strategist, and CEO of the Black Chamber of Arizona, has been named a Woman to KNOW in Arizona, a prestigious, once-in-a-lifetime honor recognizing women who are shaping the future of business, leadership, and community impact across the state.

The Women to KNOW in Arizona honor and hardcover publication spotlight a select group of high-caliber women chosen through a competitive nomination and interview process led by a panel of former honorees and community leaders.  Honorees are recognized for proven professional accomplishments, demonstrated industry leadership, measurable community or philanthropic impact, and a deep commitment to supporting and empowering women.

As CEO of the Black Chamber of Arizona and a globally recognized keynote speaker and business consultant, Dr. Trayham leads initiatives that drive inclusive economic development, small business growth, and entrepreneurial ecosystem building across Arizona and beyond.  Her work has helped thousands of entrepreneurs—particularly women and underserved founders—access resources, mentorship, and pathways out of poverty through business ownership and strategic growth.

Honorees will be formally celebrated at the Women to KNOW in Arizona Gala, an elegant evening experience featuring a red-carpet welcome, cocktail reception, and recognition program in which each Woman to KNOW is called to the stage and presented with the official Women to KNOW in Arizona hardcover.  The gala celebrates leadership, community, and collective impact while connecting top women leaders from across the state.

“This honor is not just about me—it’s about every small business owner, woman leader, and underestimated entrepreneur who refuses to give up,” said Dr. Trayham. “I am committed to continuing the work of building inclusive, equitable ecosystems where businesses and communities can thrive together.

The Women to KNOW in Arizona program, part of the broader KNOW Women platform, recognizes and connects high-impact women leaders nationwide through events, publications, and curated experiences designed to elevate women in business and leadership.
