Filmmaker Sebastian Sommer Moves To Video Games
Sebastian Sommer, known for his AI-driven feature film Dragon, is stepping away from film-making to focus on video game development. Released in 2024, his debut feature Dragon drew attention for its experimental use of AI in both visuals and storytelling.
The project was positioned as one of the first independent features to fully integrate machine learning tools into the creative process, earning coverage across film and media outlets. Sommer has described it as a proof of concept for how AI can reshape production at the indie level.
Sommer is now developing his first game, Eclipse Town, under his production company Infinity Lens. He says the move reflects his view that games offer broader opportunities for experimenting with narrative structure and technology in ways film cannot.
Details on Eclipse Town still remain limited, with no release date announced yet.
