Motadata Launches ObserveOps Infinity
The release responds to a shift in infrastructure economics. Server, memory and storage prices have risen sharply across most markets over the past two years. Observability platforms are unusually exposed to that increase because they are compute-heavy at the point of ingest and storage-heavy at rest, which means the cost lands on the customer’s infrastructure budget rather than the software line. Most vendors have treated the rise as an external condition and passed it through to customers.
Motadata took a different approach and set the customer’s hardware requirement as a design constraint for its own engineering work. For ObserveOps Infinity, the company re-engineered ingest paths, storage layout, rollup strategy, index structures and collector efficiency so the platform performs equivalent work on fewer resources, while holding device counts, retention windows and query behavior constant. Motadata reports an indicative reduction of up to 30 to 40 percent in hardware footprint for an equivalent deployment, and states that the figure is workload-dependent and varies with device mix, polling interval, retention policy, enabled modules and topology. Individual deployments are sized against the company’s sizing matrix rather than against the published range.
The company expects the practical benefit to show up in resilience as much as in cost. High availability and disaster recovery for monitoring platforms are frequently deferred because a resilient topology doubles an infrastructure requirement that was already difficult to approve. A lower per-node requirement brings those projects back within budget.
Supporting the footprint reduction is a new observability pipeline, positioned as a control plane between every telemetry source and every store. Telemetry typically arrives unstructured and without context, and where no control point exists between source and store, data tends to be retained at full fidelity indefinitely. Cost then scales with the volume of data rather than its value, and events that arrive without context have to be correlated by an engineer during an incident.
The pipeline addresses both conditions before data is written. Current capabilities include parsing that converts logs, events, traps and flows into structured fields at ingest, transformation that filters, normalizes, redacts, masks, samples and routes data in motion, context enrichment that attaches configuration item, site, owner, environment and service information at ingest, policy-driven retention that tiers data by value, and event handling that absorbs bursts and applies backpressure during a surge. Motadata has built the pipeline as an extensible control plane rather than a fixed sequence of stages, and includes it in the base platform with no separate SKU and no volume gate.
ObserveOps Infinity also consolidates the company’s previous four editions. Network Monitoring, Network Observability, Hybrid Infrastructure Observability and Full Stack Observability have been replaced by a single edition that unlocks the complete platform on day one, covering monitoring, topology, service level objectives, dashboards, AIOps, correlation, automation, integrations, security and the pipeline. Metering is by monitored device, with optional add-on modules for Flow, Log, network configuration management, application performance monitoring and real user monitoring. Log and Flow monitoring have moved from per gigabyte per day to per source, so licensing is tied to the number of items being monitored rather than the volume of data those items emit.
Existing customers on the previous editions are not required to migrate. Live deployments continue on their current contracts.
Commenting on the release, Motadata said: “Infinity did not begin as a feature list. It began as four costs we concluded our customers should never have been asked to carry, and a commitment to engineer them out of the product rather than price them into the deal.”
Motadata also positions the release as groundwork for agentic capability. Structured telemetry, governed retention, AIOps with correlation and anomaly detection, and runbook automation with an approval workflow are available today. The company states that agentic capabilities will be released onto the same platform and the same license, and has not attached dates to them.
