The Craziest 2026 MLB Highlight Moments of the Season So Far
The 2026 MLB season has been a historically chaotic one, with many records that have stood for the last few years falling across the first half. In what is possibly one of the most impressive defensive performances in MLB history, back in April Los Angeles Angels outfielder Joe Adell robbed the Seattle Mariners of no less than three home runs in one game at Angel Stadium.
Cal Raleigh, Josh Naylor and J.P. Crawford all must have thought they’d secured a homer for the Seattle team, before Adell leapt at the wall to rob them each time. The third catch, at the bottom of the ninth, was the most impressive – with Adell literally diving into the stands and the crowd, before rising with the ball in his glove to jubilant applause.
What’s more, Adell’s heroic steals secured a 1-0 victory for the Angels, sealing a defensive masterclass for the history books. One fan even got a picture they’ll remember for a long time, snapping a selfie with the game-winning catcher as he clambered out of the crowd.
Side note: Adell also made headlines in June when what looked like an easy catch hit him on the head and bounced off for a homer for the Colorado Rockies. Can’t catch them all!
American League’s Shutout All-Star Game
If you’d put money down on a shutout win for the American League before the recent All-Star game, you’d have got very good odds. The National League were relatively strong favorites averaging -130 to the American League’s +110.
Yet, despite a stacked line up of in-form hitters on the NL side, the American League secured a 4-0 victory. Veterans Aroldis Chapman and Bryan Baker sealed the deal with a scoreless ninth innings – marking the first shutout win in the All-Star since 2013.

Alimber Santa’s No-Hitter Debut
Few debuts in MLB history have gone as well as that of Houston Astros young pitcher Alimber Santa. He made his Major League Baseball debut in May 25, 2026, against no less than the Astros’ state rivals Texas Rangers. No sweat though for the hot prospect, who promptly became only the second debutant ever to deliver a no hitter.
In a great debut present from Santa to his new team’s fans, the 23-year-old Dominican had six outs to get through after a promising start for the Houston team.
Even at 7-0 up going into the seventh, few would have questioned if Santa put in an even a statistically average shift to complete a likely victory. But boy, did he overdeliver. In Santa’s first ever big league game he retired six Rangers batters in a row over 11 pitches, to seal the first no-hitter in the MLB in nearly two years and only the 19th in Astros history.
The last MLB debutant to seal a no-hitter was Charles “Bumpus” Jones in 1892, so it’s likely he and Santa will hold the record jointly for some time.
Max Muncy’s Walk Off Third Homer
Another rare occurrence this season that deserved a mention was a three-homer game from the LA Dodger’s Max Muncy. The veteran slugger, already chasing the Dodgers’ all-time home runs record, hit three out of the park against the Texas Rangers in their April game at the Dodger Stadium.
In doing so Muncy became only the second Dodger to hit a three homer game with a walk-off solo to seal the deal, after Don Demeter in April 1959. Jack Suwinski was the last MLB player to hit one before Muncy, back in 2022.
The triple score put Muncy at 213 career home runs with the LA team, standing at sixth place in the franchise history. Although Duke Snider is way out in front, Muncy only has to beat the 270 of Eric Karros to become the team’s home run leader in the years since it moved to Los Angeles in 1958.
As for the opponents – that’s two rare occurrences that have gone against the Texas Rangers this season. However, they’re still clinging onto first place in the American League West as the season gets into its final stages.
