The Value of Mockumentary: High School Musical: The Musical: The Series

If you liked the High School Musical movies, or you just enjoy musical entertainment in general, checking out the High School Musical: The Musical: The Series TV show on Disney+ is a great idea. Creator Tim Federle understood the assignment, making four seasons that followed high school students all the way through their reunion and ended on a high note. He did that to avoid cliffhanger risks if the show was ever canceled, and wanted to make sure it ended while it was still popular.

Four Seasons of Music and Enjoyment

With 38 episodes spanning four seasons, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series had a good run and was popular with a number of fans. It offered a significant amount of entertainment to experience and kept viewers interested in the characters and their lives. It didn’t end because of disinterest, but because the goal was to wrap it up and avoid a cliffhanger if the series was ever canceled at some point.

A Creator With Broadway Experience

The creator, Tim Federle, brought his Broadway experience to High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, and it shows in a lot of big and small ways. Anyone who has an appreciation for Broadway, or who enjoyed the original High School Musical film series will likely enjoy the series, as well. They can follow along with the strong themes and vivid characters, for a rich experience that can be hard to find with other types of shows.

Going Out at a High Point

Going out at just the right time was the goal of the series, and it ended on a high note at the reunion. That wrapped years of high school adventures and made it easier for fans to accept that there wouldn’t be any more episodes of a show they’d come to love and appreciate. Whether another series or show will be made as a spin-off remains to be seen, of course, but right now there aren’t any indications of that happening.

It’s About the Music, and Much More

While High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is definitely about the music, that’s not the only thing that matters or the only theme explored. Teenagers in high school have richer and more intense lives than many people realize, and the goal was to show the goals and dreams of the characters along with their struggles, too. By doing that, the series became much more than music and created a strong fan base from all walks of life.
