5 Post Nose-Job Recovery Tips!
If you’re having a nose job soon, or are currently recovering, then we’re here with 5 simple tips to help you heal well. The most important thing is to listen to the advice of your surgeon as they’ll be able to provide personalised advice, whether you’ve had a classic nose job or a piezo rhinoplasty. However, these are good general tips to help you recover in a healthy and comfortable way!
Stay In Touch With Your Surgeon
Firstly, you should stay in touch with your surgeon. As we mentioned, they’re the best people to be able to give you advice on your situation specifically, as they’ll know exactly what the surgery entailed and any intricate details. They’ll give you instructions for your recovery on the medication you should take and what you should and shouldn’t do. You will also be given a contact number so you can call the team who did your surgery if you have any questions at all, and you will also have in person checkups, a huge benefit of choosing to have plastic surgery London based or elsewhere in the UK as opposed to abroad, along with all of the other benefits.
Get Enough Rest
Something else you need to make sure you’re doing is getting enough rest. When we’re asleep and resting, our bodies do the most recovery, so if you’re feeling tired throughout the day, take a nap. You also should make sure you’re getting at least 8 hours of sleep overnight. Your surgeon will probably advise that you sleep in an elevated position with extra pillows to help you heal properly, and although this might feel a bit strange to begin with, it’s the best thing to do. Make sure you’re listening to your body and resting when you need to, you’ll need to take time off work anyway so make the most of this and ensure you’re being kind to yourself and letting yourself rest.
Avoid Strenuous Activity
You also need to make sure you’re avoiding strenuous activity and exercise after your nose job for at least 4 to 6 weeks. Again, your surgeon will be able to give you more personalised advice on this, however it’s important you follow it because you need to protect your nose when you’re healing. From lifting weights through to yoga and everything in between, you risk bleeding, swelling, injury and shifting the nasal structures which don’t heal for 6 weeks. So, usually you’ll be okay with very light walking for the first four weeks, then check in with your surgeon.
Wear Loose Clothing
Last but not least, you should make sure you’re wearing loose clothing. Either tops with a very loose head hole or button front tops are ideal, as the last thing you want is to be trying to pull a tight fitting top over your head and accidentally catching your nose and making it really painful. Plus, you want to be feeling comfortable through your recovery and won’t want to be wearing tight clothes likely anyway, so it’s a win-win!
