Vasyl Zahorodniuk, new treasurer of the Rotary Club Madrid Intercontinental Passport: the club entrusts its finances to an investment professional

Madrid, 9 July 2026. The Rotary Club Madrid Intercontinental Passport (RCMIP) has appointed Vasyl Zahorodniuk as treasurer, an investment professional with extensive experience in capital management. The appointment took place at the Club Financiero Génova, during the club’s presidential handover ceremony, in the presence of embassies, members of parliament, business leaders and the Rotary family.

With this decision, the club places its finances in the hands of someone who knows how to do things right: every euro allocated to aid for Ukraine, to the sister-city partnerships and to the club’s projects will be managed with professional judgement, oversight and full transparency. In Rotary, trust is not declared — it is proven with clear accounts.

“It is an honour to take on this responsibility. The most important thing is to build community and help those in need, and for that the money must be well managed. My commitment is simple: transparency, oversight and accountability to every person who trusts us. Behind every project there are people, and to them we owe clear accounts,” said Vasyl Zahorodniuk.

New club president

During the same ceremony, Bohdan Filonenko, an international communications strategist, took office as the new president of the RCMIP, receiving the presidential collar from the club’s first president, Oleksandr Predytkevych.

“We are not asking for help. We are offering collaboration. Ukraine needs not only reconstruction — Ukraine needs new friends. And Europe, too, needs living ties among its cities, its universities and its businesses,” said Bohdan Filonenko.

Honorary Member: Deputy Andrés Navarro

The club named D. Andrés Navarro — deputy of the Assembly of Madrid (Partido Popular) and president of the ADC San Fermín association — an Honorary Member of the RCMIP.

“Andrés has shown that a politician and a community leader can be more than a distinguished guest: he can be a true companion, one who supports you not when it is convenient, but when it is needed,” Bohdan Filonenko noted during the presentation.

Two new Rotarians

The RCMIP family grew with two new members:

  • Oleksandr Tarasov, owner of the “Made in Ukraine” project, which shows the world the true face of Ukrainian quality and entrepreneurial talent.
  • Anastasiia Skorobohatova-Tiutiunnyk, founder of the “AUTO IN SPAIN” dealership network and an expert in building businesses without capital investment.

Diplomatic and humanitarian presence

The event was attended by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Norway in Spain, represented by Embassy Secretary Mr Axel Wedén; the Embassy of Italy, with Counsellor Matteo Pianca; and the Spanish Red Cross (Cruz Roja Española), represented by Mr Martín López, Head of Operations in Ukraine. All of them reaffirmed their support for peace dialogue and for humanitarian work on the ground.

The RCMIP was founded in Madrid in 2025 and is led by Ukrainian professionals in Spain. Its three pillars: Friendship, Diplomacy and Impact.
