Sridhar Rangaswamy Marks 30 Years in the United States, From a New Delhi Clerk’s Desk to NASA-Linked Technology Work

ORLANDO, Fla. — Sridhar “Sri” Rangaswamy is marking 30 years since he first landed in the United States, a milestone that falls on May 16, 2026. He arrived in Atlanta on an H1B work visa in 1996, beginning a career that would take him through government service, sixteen years at Oracle Corporation, technology work tied to NASA rocket launches, nonprofit leadership and a stand-up comedy stage under the name DrJustKidding.

Rangaswamy grew up in Chennai, India then known as Madras and earned a bachelor’s degree in English literature. His career did not start in technology. His first jobs were clerical: a Lower Division Clerk position in India’s Ministry of Education in New Delhi, followed by work as a data entry operator. Before relocating to the U.S., he held information technology roles in four other countries, including stints with Grafische Informatik in Bad Oeynhausen, Germany, and Wilson Cables Pte Ltd (originally Enamelled Wire Private Limited) in Singapore, along with time spent in Dublin and Sri Lanka.

After landing in Atlanta in 1996, Rangaswamy relocated to Orlando in 1998, the city that has anchored his career and community involvement ever since. In 2005, with sponsorship from Oracle Corporation, he began a master’s degree in information security at Colorado Technical University, graduating in 2007 as class topper with a 4.0 GPA.

Rangaswamy went on to spend sixteen years with Oracle Consulting Services, rising from database administrator to project manager and eventually project director. He became an Oracle Silver Partner, was chosen to beta test Oracle’s Service Oriented Architecture product, and was elected to chair the membership committee of the Oracle Applications Users Group (OATUG, formerly OAUG) for two consecutive terms. He also held a president-level role with the Florida Oracle Applications Users Group and spoke at both Oracle OpenWorld and Collaborate.

Outside of Oracle, Rangaswamy launched his own consulting practice, SAI Super Software Solutions Inc., based in Orlando, and later took on a leadership role at Emerson in the climate-technology sector. In 2017, he taught digital forensics as an adjunct professor at Eastern Florida State College’s Titusville campus, and more recently has studied artificial intelligence at MIT.

Rangaswamy’s impact goes beyond the tech industry. He has made his radio debuts in SC and DC, and has been performing stand-up comedy at such clubs as Sak’s Comedy Club and The Copper Rocket, and corporate functions for Emerson Climate Technologies. He performed as DrJustKidding and successfully trademarked the DrJustKidding name with the U.S. federal trademark office, and subsequently submitted a second trademark application for the DrJustKidding logo with the trademark office. He was previously a chess player in India, and a member of a chess federation, and was the Editor-in-Chief of Alpha Magazine, having acted, written and directed stage productions in Chennai.

In the year 2001 Rangaswamy established an organization named Sai Sharan Inc. based on the teachings of Shirdi Sai Baba. He filed the paperwork for the organization two years later, and obtained the organization’s 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status without the aid of a CPA or attorney. Sai Sharan Inc. has distributed copies of the Sai Satcharitra to local libraries and has the USPS Non-profit Marketing Mail status through youth programs, environmental programs and volunteer efforts. The organization is also affiliated with Champions! United to Beat Malaria (previously Nothing But Nets) is a joint program of the United Nations Foundation.

Rangaswamy’s civic involvement includes service on the City of Orlando’s Families, Parks and Recreation Board and a candidacy for the Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District 5 board. In early 2016, the Government of India selected him as one of 24 U.S. delegates for Indiasoft, a Ministry of Commerce export-promotion program later documented in the Gazette of India, and that same year the Government of Australia sponsored his participation in a separate trade delegation through TatXPO. He has also been invited to Florida civic events including the opening of Apopka International Airport and Governor Rick Scott’s inauguration ceremony.

Rangaswamy became a U.S. citizen in 2006, ten years and four months after his initial arrival, and was interviewed by the Orlando Sentinel following his citizenship.

Looking back over three decades, Rangaswamy’s path runs from a clerk’s desk in New Delhi to Oracle’s leadership ranks, NASA-linked technology work, a nonprofit he built from scratch, government trade delegations and a comedy stage. Across his speaking engagements and his platforms as Sri and DrJustKidding, his message comes down to three words: “You Can Do It.”
