Waltex Enters Canadian Market with Own-Brand Ceylon Black Tea

Waltex, the Sri Lankan diversified enterprise, has exported Ceylon Black Tea to Canada under its own brand, “Waltex Tea,” marking the company’s entry into the North American market.

The consignment was shipped to I&H Global Ventures Inc., which will serve as the importer and distributor of Waltex Tea in Canada.

The export is a significant milestone for the Colombo-based company, which until now has built its reputation across its home market. Shipping under its own label — rather than in bulk for repackaging overseas — places the Waltex Tea brand directly in front of Canadian consumers, a market with a large and growing demand for premium Ceylon tea.

Ceylon Black Tea, grown in Sri Lanka’s renowned tea regions, is prized worldwide for its distinctive flavour, aroma and character. Waltex Tea carries this heritage forward, with the company positioning the brand around the tradition and elegance long associated with Ceylon tea.

Founded in 1996 and headquartered in Colombo, Waltex operates across five sectors, including motor vehicle dealership, FMCG imports, Tea Exports, Real Estate and Exports of Sri Lankan fresh produces. The move into direct branded exports reflects the group’s broader strategy of taking its products to international markets under its own name.

Through its partnership with I&H Global Ventures Inc., Waltex Tea will be made available to retailers and consumers across Canada, with the company expecting the market to serve as a gateway for further expansion in North America.
