Quackr Launches Quackr ID, a Five-Tool Privacy Subscription for Permanent Online Aliases
The new service combines a permanent private phone number, alias email, virtual cards, password manager and VPN under one account from $9.99 a month.
UNITED KINGDOM — Quackr has launched Quackr ID, a subscription that gives each website a person signs up to a separate set of contact and payment details, so their real ones are never entered into a form.
Quackr ID provides a permanent private phone number, an alias email address, virtual payment cards, a password manager and a VPN under a single account. The password manager holds each identity together, so searching for a retailer returns the alias email, number, card and login used with it. Alias emails forward to the real inbox and can be replied to without exposing it, and a card can be given a monthly spending limit or shut off.
It differs from the company’s original product, which issues numbers intended to receive a single verification code and then be abandoned. Quackr ID is built to be kept, so the same aliases stay attached to the same accounts and remain available for later logins and password resets.
Pricing for the service is $9.99 a month or $79 a year. Three of the five components are also sold individually, coming to $20.97 a month combined; the password manager and VPN are available only within the subscription.
“The request we kept getting was for one identity people could keep, rather than a fresh one every time they hit a signup form,” a spokesperson for Quackr said. “That is a different product from the one we started with.”
Quackr ID is available now on the web, on Android, and as browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox, with an iOS app to follow. Private numbers are issued in five countries: the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada and Hong Kong. Card and VPN coverage extends across more than 190 countries.
