The neighborhood near GT has lots of great places to eat, and some of the ones I’ve listed below are good value and really popular with students.
Atlanta Breakfast Club: Great Southern food. Highly recommended!
Momonoki: Nice Japanese cafe with lots of desserts!
Hattie B’s: Best fried chicken in Atlanta!
Pho King: Vietnamese noodles you’ll love.
The Optimist: Fresh oysters at a good price, plus happy hour. The seafood is good, but the burgers are bad.
Six Feet Under Pub: American seafood restaurant. Great fish and chips. All kinds of fried seafood.
Bulla Gastrobar: Good Spanish food.
Off-Campus Entertainment
GT is in Atlanta, a city with a rich history and a vibrant future as an industrial and commercial hub, as well as a cultural and healthcare center. The Coca-Cola headquarters is just across the street from the south side of the campus, and Atlanta’s downtown is just a few blocks south from GT. You’ll find the World of Coca-Cola Pavilion and the Georgia Aquarium here. On weekends, you can watch league sports, sip art and music, enjoy good food, meet cute guys and girls at bars, or picnic, play sports, and take in the view from a large green space.

Georgia Tech On-Campus Housing Options
GT has 48 residence halls. There are three types of dormitory: traditional, suite, and apartment. They range in size from two to seven rooms. Some of the dorms have elevators. Some dorms are mixed-gender, with one male floor alternating with one female floor, while others are single-gender. In these, two senior student Peer Leaders live on each floor and organize themed activities at different times of the year.
Freshmen don’t have to live on campus, so if you wants to be independent and have your personal space or save money on housing, you can choose a single student apartment or a cheap student apartment near Georgia Tech. Freshmen who want to live in a dorm can choose from 22 dorm buildings on the East and West campuses. The majority of the new student dorms are traditional dorms, with just two blocks being suites. These are mainly units for two to four people distributed according to 2b/4b, with two people sharing a bathroom, living room, and kitchen. The dormitory buildings have laundry rooms, activity room, study room, kitchen, and so on.
Dining Halls
GT has three cafeterias on campus, plus lots of other places to eat, including restaurants, cafeterias, and food trucks. You can order from the on-campus restaurants and cafes online and pick up your food there, which can save your time.
West Village is the semi-cafeteria on the West Campus, spread over three floors. It has a great atmosphere and new facilities, plus you can enjoy your meal outside while watching the sunset. The West Village menu is packed with options, including Mexican, Asian, Italian, American, and salad and fruit. And during the holiday seasons, there will be special themes.
North Avenue is right next to the school. It’s convenient for students who live nearby. It’s on one floor, but there’s more food than at West Village. However, the food at both restaurants tastes a little off.
Brittain is closer to the library on the east side, and it has a strong historical flavor. It’s also semi-buffet style, with a wide variety of dishes that are generally good.
There’s also campus retail and food trucks on campus. The food trucks offer a wide variety of food, from sushi to tacos. The retail options focus on burgers and pastries.
Campus Events
While GT classes are intense, students still find time in their free schedule to conduct research or join hobby clubs like the IEEE (Electrical Engineering Department) or the InVenture Prize. The IEEE, an 800-member organization within GT, is the largest association of electrical and electronic engineers in the world.
GT has over 400 student clubs and organizations, 12 honor societies, and 56 fraternities and sororities. There are also plenty of internal resources for programmers to get together to program, write software, and so on. The school also puts on sporting events like football and basketball, video game competitions, mini-tricycle races, and big Chinese cultural events during the Chinese New Year and Mid-Autumn Festival.
