China has become the world’s No. 1 in the scale of 5G networks, the world’s No. 1 in the scale of Internet users, the world’s No. 1 in online retail sales, the world’s No. 1 in mobile payment penetration, the world’s No. 1 in the number of top-level domain names, and the world’s No. 1 in the number of catechism courses. In terms of infrastructure construction, China’s network infrastructure has realized leapfrog improvement. The average download rate of broadband networks has increased by nearly 40 times, mobile communication networks have evolved from 3G to 5G, and the world’s largest 5G network has been built. As of June 2023, the number of Chinese Internet users increased from 564 million to 1.079 billion, and the Internet penetration rate rose from 42.1% to 76.4%, forming the world’s largest and most vibrant digital society.
