The Big News
Venezia leap-frogged over Pescara thanks to their Serie B promotion play-off victory of Cremonese over Pescara on Friday (1-0 after extra time thanks to a goal from Christian Gytkjaer set up by – you guessed it – Gianluca Busio of the USMNT).
Fun Fact
Busio, who was with Sporting Kansas City before his move, played nearly an hour against Cremonese. In both legs of their play-off, Tessmann played every minute, winning 11 out of 14 duels in the second.
What’s Next?
Both have been known for their performances for Venezia. Both of them have made 13 goals and seven assists. Now, they hope to play with a new generation of US stars, like Pulisic and McKennie, in Serie A. The duo also did not make the final cut for the USMNT’s Copa America squad. Instead, they will travel to France this July for the Paris Olympics, and coach Mauricio Pochettino prevailed upon his former Southampton teammate to take over the nation’s side. No other nation’s team will have much familiarity with the US’s. Their coach, Marko Mitrovic, is a former Forward via Karol Marko.
