Spammers Abuse GoFundMe Pages To Create SEO Hyperlinks
It’s come to light that several spammers, freelancers and online businesses from Pakistan are hijacking GoFundMe pages to create self-serving SEO hyperlinks.
Instead of helping those in need, they’re creating fake fundraising campaigns to boost their own websites’ search engine rankings. It’s a troubling misuse of a platform meant to connect generous people with those in real crisis.
The spammers are inserting misleading hyperlinks into GoFundMe pages, driving traffic to unrelated or questionable sites rather than supporting genuine causes. This unethical behavior not only damages the integrity of the crowdfunding platform but also erodes the trust that donors place in it.
It’s especially disheartening when you think about the many donors who use GoFundMe out of a genuine desire to help others. To see their compassion exploited for spam is both upsetting and disappointing.
A freelance SEO link builder based in Pakistan has also been exposed for attempting to scam digital marketing clients. The individual, who was active on the Facebook Marketplace, was caught trying to pass off fake GoFundMe pages as legitimate editorial guest posts.
Instead of delivering genuine SEO services, the scammer was creating spammy GoFundMe profile pages and offering them as high-quality paid guest post service.
These pages, of course, had no real editorial or SEO value and were simply designed to trick clients into paying for paid guest posting services that didn’t exist.
This deception highlights a troubling trend in the digital marketing world, where some individuals are taking advantage of clients’ trust to make a quick buck.
It’s a stark reminder of the importance of verifying the legitimacy of service providers before making any commitments or payments
In recent times, Pakistan’s digital growth has led to an increase in such spammy practices, as more people turn to the internet for economic opportunities. Similarly, India has also seen a rise in digital marketing scams amid its expanding tech industry.
At the same time, Palestinians are struggling to create legitimate GoFundMe accounts to seek help for families in Gaza. Many are desperately raising funds to secure a place on the Egyptian border-crossing list, which allows only a small number of people to leave the region each day.
