Top 5 Things to Do in Vestal This Summer
Summer is in full swing here in Vestal, and there are so many fun activities to enjoy in our beautiful town. As a lifelong resident, I want to share my top picks for things to do around Vestal over the next few months.
Whether you’re looking for outdoor adventures, family-friendly events, or just a relaxing day out, Vestal has something for everyone.
1. Visit the New Vestal Memorial Pool & Splash Pad
One of the most exciting developments this summer is the opening of the renovated Vestal Memorial Pool and brand new splash pad. The pool has been completely redone and now features a beach-style entry, water slides, and plenty of space to swim and play. The colorful new splash pad is perfect for younger kids to run around and cool off.
The pool and splash pad are open daily from 11am-7pm. Admission is very affordable at just $5 for adults and $3 for kids. I highly recommend checking it out on a hot summer day. It’s a great way to have some family fun while beating the heat.
2. Attend the 4th of July Fireworks
Vestal puts on an incredible fireworks display every 4th of July at Arnold Park. The festivities start at 6pm with food trucks, live music, and activities for kids. Then at dusk, the sky lights up with a spectacular fireworks show.
Watching the fireworks is an annual tradition for many Vestal families, myself included. The atmosphere in the park is so fun and patriotic. Just remember to bring blankets or lawn chairs to sit on. And get there early to scope out a good viewing spot!
3. Hike the Vestal Rail Trail
For the outdoor enthusiasts, the Vestal Rail Trail is a must-visit. This 2.1 mile paved path runs along an old railroad bed and is ideal for walking, running, and biking. It’s a fairly easy, flat trail that’s great for all ages and skill levels.
The trail takes you through some beautiful wooded areas and over the Choconut Creek. There are a few different access points, but I like starting at Castle Gardens Park off Main Street. Bring some water and snacks, and enjoy a peaceful hike in nature. It’s a nice break from the bustle of daily life.
4. Shop & Dine on the Vestal Parkway
The Vestal Parkway (Route 434) is our main commercial district with tons of shopping and dining options. You can find all your favorite chain stores and restaurants, plus some great local businesses too. One of my go-to spots is the Skylark Diner for a tasty breakfast or lunch.
I also recommend checking out the Vestal Farmers Market on Wednesdays and Saturdays at the library parking lot. Local farmers and artisans sell fresh produce, baked goods, crafts and more. It’s a fun way to support small businesses in our community.
5. Catch a Ball Game at Binghamton University
Last but not least, summer is baseball season! Head over to the Binghamton University campus to watch the Binghamton Rumble Ponies play at Mirabito Stadium. The Rumble Ponies are an AA affiliate of the New York Mets.
Going to a game is an affordable, family-friendly activity. Tickets start at just $9 and kids can often run the bases after the game. Plus the stadium has great views and a lively atmosphere. It’s the perfect way to spend a summer evening in Vestal.
So there you have it – my top 5 picks for summer fun in Vestal, NY. I hope this gives you some ideas for enjoying all our great town has to offer.
By the way, if you’re looking to improve your business’s customer experience, I highly recommend checking out some of the best nps tools on the market. Net promoter score is a key metric and these tools make it easy to measure and improve.
